What to Do If You Sent Money to the Wrong Person

One wrong digit can send money to a stranger. Acting quickly and calmly gives you the best chance of getting it back.

Prevention first: check the name

When you send on EriPay, the recipient's registered name appears before you confirm. Make it a habit to read it every single time. If the name is not who you expect, stop.

If it already happened

  1. Note the details: amount, time, and the transaction ID from your history.
  2. Contact the recipient politely if you can, explain the mistake and ask them to send it back. Many people return money when asked kindly.
  3. Contact EriPay support through a ticket or info@eripays.com with the transaction ID. We will review the case and contact the recipient.
  4. Do not send more money to anyone who promises to "reverse" it for a fee.

If you received money by mistake

Check your balance in the app first (not an SMS). If genuine money arrived by mistake, contact support or return it to the sender. Keeping money you know is not yours is dishonest and may be illegal. And beware of scammers who send fake SMS and ask for "refunds".

Reduce the risk

  • Use Wallet IDs or saved contacts for people you pay often.
  • Send a small test amount first for large transfers to new recipients.
  • Use requests: let the other person request money from you, so the details come from them.

Open your EriPay wallet and send with confidence.
