How to Send Money on EriPay by Phone Number, Email or Wallet ID

Sending money is the heart of EriPay. You can reach anyone on EriPay with whatever you know about them: a phone number, an email address or a Wallet ID. Transfers arrive instantly, and those of UGX 20,000 or less are free. This guide covers how to send, how to avoid mistakes, and the tricks regular users rely on.

Three ways to find the recipient

  • Phone number: the number they registered with. Type it as 0772 123456 or +256 772 123456; EriPay understands both.
  • Email address: handy for people abroad or businesses.
  • Wallet ID: a code like EP-UGX-7F2A-91C4. Each currency wallet has its own ID. People who don't want to share their phone number can share this instead.

Step by step

  1. Tap Send on your dashboard.
  2. Choose the wallet to send from, for example your UGX wallet.
  3. Enter the recipient's phone number, email or Wallet ID.
  4. Read the name that appears. This is the name registered to that account. If it isn't the person you expect, stop.
  5. Enter the amount and an optional note, such as "School fees" or "Lunch".
  6. Review the fee and total.
  7. Confirm with your 6-digit Wallet PIN.

The money arrives instantly. The recipient gets a notification, and both of you see the transfer in your history.

What does it cost?

  • UGX 500 to UGX 20,000: free
  • Above UGX 20,000: 0.5% of the amount
  • Maximum fee per transfer: UGX 1,000

The minimum transfer is UGX 500.

Sending in other currencies

If you hold a US dollar wallet, you can send dollars to another user's USD wallet in the same way. The free amount is the dollar equivalent of UGX 20,000 at the day's rate. To send shillings from dollars, exchange first.

Find and share your own Wallet ID

Open Wallets to see each wallet's ID, with a copy button. You can also show your QR code from My QR, so people can scan instead of typing.

Habits of confident senders

  • Always read the name. It takes one second and prevents nearly every wrong transfer.
  • Use notes. In three months you'll be glad to know why you sent UGX 45,000 on a Tuesday.
  • Send a small test first for a large amount to someone new.
  • Let people request from you. When they send a request, the details come from them, so you can't mistype.

Safety: what scammers try

  • Someone asks you to "return" money they sent by mistake, but you only received a fake SMS. Check your balance in the app first.
  • A caller claims you've won a prize and must send a fee to collect it.
  • A "job" or "loan" requires a registration payment.

EriPay staff will never ask for your PIN or ask you to send money to unlock anything.

If you sent to the wrong person

Contact the recipient politely if you can, and open a support ticket with the transaction ID. Our team will review the case. Never pay anyone who offers to "reverse" a transfer for a fee.

Sending to someone not on EriPay

Invite them with your referral link. They get a welcome bonus, you can earn a referral reward on their first deposit, and every transfer between you after that is free up to UGX 20,000.
